Splash Sport Ministry
Splash Sports Ministry was launched in 2008 by Colin Buick and a team of Chief's who had a passion for canoeing and water sports. The team have been enjoying working along with many of the Clans across the country.
Splash Sports are available and willing to add a new dimension to your Clan Programme. In these times when the fitness of children is causing concern at all levels, Splash Sport Ministry provide an exciting cost effective way to encourage physical activity in children and young people.
The Splash Sport Team headed by Colin Buick now comprises 7 Christian instructors trained to British Canoe Union and Education Board standards. They are equipped with 8 canoes, 12 Sit-on-top kayaks, 8 Sit-in kayaks, paddle board, wetsuits and buoyancy aids. Currently the team can cater for groups of up to 20/30 people and operate from three venues :
Antrim Lough Shore /Six Mile River; Portglenone Marina and Toome Canal.
Antrim Lough Shore has a campsite, cafe and toilets at the Six Mile Water Park
Portglenone Marina has recently been developed. Toilets, changing facilities and the marina are part of the village where shops and cafes are available.
Toome Canal has a coffee shop, no changing facilities but we have a changing tent attached to canoe trailer and toilets are in the village.
A normal session lasts about 1 1/2-2 hours. Past sessions indicate a maximum of 2 hours is enough as the Clansmen start to tire. Sessions may vary from journeys to splash and fun with basic paddling skills taught.
Splash Sport Ministry Team are also available to all Churches hosting Campaigners Clans. Now your Men’s fellowship, Women’s fellowship and Youth fellowship can all take advantage of the services. In the current economic climate as prices rise on a daily basis, Splash Sport continue to provide a very cost effective service.
We are delighted to say that the price has remained the same over the past 12 years.
£5 per head for Campaigner Clans
£10 per head for non Campaigners.
Given that some establishments are currently charging up to £25/£30 for this service Campaigners continue to be the most cost effective option for Clans. Demand is anticipated to be higher than usual so book early to avoid disappointment.
